An association website provides information, updates and an easy place to find. Discussing a concern and participating in a decision may take place somewhere else. Deferendum Community Links connects those two locations: a clear entry point on a WordPress page leading to a group, existing concern or decision in Deferendum.
Deferendum Community Links 0.2.1 is now available in the official WordPress.org directory. The plugin page provides the published version’s download and instructions. Hosting approval and publication are complete; this is not a guarantee that every installation is free of risk.
What it adds to your site
An administrator can use the Deferendum Community Link Gutenberg block or the Classic editor shortcode. The card displays a heading, an explanation and a button to the chosen destination. The visitor continues in Deferendum, not in a voting system embedded inside WordPress.
Visitor-facing cards and destinations support English, Romanian, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Editor controls remain in English. Selecting a language does not automatically translate private group content or the whole website. It configures this entry point.
No API key, Deferendum password or site-to-site account connection is needed to configure the plugin. The administrator supplies a supported link, chooses a language and can add an appropriate public heading. The page remains an introduction, not a duplicate of the community’s private working space.

An association example
Imagine an association page containing meeting times and contact details. Rather than hiding the community destination in an old paragraph, the page could include a card headed “Our community”. It opens the group; another page can point directly to an existing concern or decision.
In the Classic editor, an example structure is:
[deferendum url="https://app.deferendum.com/app/groups/your-group" language="en"]
your-group is a placeholder, not a working test group. Replace it with the identifier in your authorised real link. For Gutenberg, the same destination goes into Group or topic URL. Preview the page to check the language and position of the card before publication. A prominent placement should help visitors find the next step without implying that every visitor can access it.
What stays unchanged: data and access
The plugin does not copy private content, synchronise accounts or store votes, sessions or passwords. The plugin itself does not contact Deferendum, retrieve group data or set tracking cookies; ordinary WordPress page access and logging remain the site’s responsibility. Group and topic links do not automatically grant access to non-members.
A shareable invitation is different: publishing it may allow new members to join and requires explicit confirmation of permission. Never publish a personal invitation delivered by email. A custom heading is public page content, and the plugin does not override its SEO indexing rules. Keep private names, internal questions and results out of that heading.

Compatibility and configuration checks
The verified version requires WordPress 6.3 or later and PHP 8.0 or later. The WordPress plugin is GPLv2-or-later; that licence does not automatically cover the separate hosted application, backend, native apps or community data.
Use only supported production links from app.deferendum.com. Authentication, administrative and unsupported URLs do not generate a button to an ambiguous destination: the card does not render. If it is missing, check the link and destination type before assuming an access problem. The absence of a card is not a request to enter account credentials into WordPress.
Start with a short check: the page works on a phone, the card language fits its audience, the heading contains no private details and the destination is correct. Participation continues in Deferendum, under the group’s rules. The plugin makes the route clearer; agreement, arguments and next steps still belong to the community.
